Get rid of Muffy, my muffin top: Waiting for spring when I can convince myself to crawl out from under my many blankets.
Run several races: The Hot Chocolate Run is only 2 weeks away. I can’t wait!
This was last year’s picture. I really hope and pray this year is a bit warmer!!
Want to make your own neck gaiter?? Check out my tutorial here. I love this thing!
Sell something: I sold 2 items on my local FB mom’s group. A baby carseat and a toddler bike. The meaning of this goal is to make something to sell, but eh, I’ll take this for now.
Buy a HOUSE: Not yet. I figure every day is one day closer.
Get rid of 200 things: I got rid of the 2 items that I sold that were collecting dust in my garage. I have a few more things to list online. 174- 2 = 172 more item to go.
Laugh a LOT: This one is harder than I thought. I mean, how hard is it to laugh? I saw this video this week and did have a good laugh watching it. I also got to have dinner with my very funny workout friends. That was a plus. And of course, there are always the kids.
Re-read all my Nancy Drew books: I didn’t read any this week. I’m currently waiting to start #11.
Go to the temple each month (or at least 12 times.): I thought I might go on Friday, but ended up changing plans. I’ll get to it as some point during the month.
Keep grocery bill as low as possible: I think this one went really well this month.
My total budget was $700. (We have 5 people in our family. 2 adults and 3 kids.) Ideally that was $500 for groceries and $200 for other. But I tended to borrow from each category when needed. (Which is allowed in Jordan’s system :))
My total spending was $583.95 which means I got to add $116.05 into a slush fund. (Which while ‘not allowed’ in Jordan’s system, I really needed this little bit for something else this month. So I used it for that.)
It’s amazing how tracking every purchase really does work. (Duh, right?) I had to say no to several things and I only went to the store once a week. If the kids asked for something I would say, “Sorry- grocery day is Friday. We can get it then.” And honestly, if you forget something, it’s only 7 days. It’s not that hard to wait. I’m excited to keep this routine and see how it works.
Save any free, non-perishable item: I didn’t get any free items this week.
Do a different 30 day challenge each month
January: Clear off kitchen counters each night: This worked really well. I was amazed at myself each night. It actually took very little effort to clean off the counters. And then I woke up to a fresh start each morning. It was kind of fantastic. I did laugh at myself on Feb 1st when I went to bed with the counters looking like this:
It was like “This challenge is over, how much of a mess can I make??” In all fairness, I spent the later part of that evening making Groundhogs days cakes and by the time I was done with them I was just too tired to clean.
(These are just bundt cakes- a regular size and mini ones. I printed an image off google and then laminated it. Then I hot glued a toothpick to the back and stuck it in the cake.)
My goal for February is…… Wear lipstick everyday.
What?? That’s is the weirdest goal, right? Well, here’s the thing. I am not a lipstick wearer. I think it looks great on other people, but it’s never been for me. Recently I found a tube of bright red lipstick in my bathroom. I think I got it during Clinique’s bonus week or something. Jokingly I put it on and wow- you wouldn’t believe the compliments I got! So I thought, “Hmmm, I’m getting older… maybe it’s time to add some color in my life…”
While this may seem like a silly challenge, it will be a challenge for me. I remembered on Feb 1st and then promptly forgot on Feb 2nd. Even now, on Feb 3rd- I’m sitting on my couch in my comfy pants and not a stitch of make-up. But a challenge is a challenge and I went and stuck some on. I’m sure my family will start asking questions soon.
And that’s it for this week’s update. I’m hoping to keep progressing this week!
