It’s that time of year where additional stuff comes into our homes. Gifts, boxes and extra food. Just the Christmas tree, stockings and a few decor items I don’t usually have around fill up spaces and make everything seem crowded. While I love Christmas time, it can also make me insane. We are the people with our tree on the curb on Dec 26th. Not because we are humbug, but because Christmas is over and it’s time to clean. Leave the tree up until New Years?? Heck no, that is not us.
People talking about Spring Cleaning but before the big day I did a lot of pre-Christmas cleaning. I cleaned out our file cabinets, my desk and dresser drawers and the kitchen cupboards. All of which produced 2 huge bags of trash.
Did you know you only have to keep tax documents for 3 years now?? I had 12 years worth. TWELVE.
Those all got shredded. I stuck my daughter on that task. She had a bit too much fun as my bedroom looked like a snow storm had hit. Yet, another bag of trash.
On a roll, the daughter and I tackled her room. The greatest usage of a yard stick? Cleaning out under beds! (My mother taught me that.) Another bag of trash.
In one week I got rid of FOUR huge bags of trash. Did we really live with all of that tucked away, hidden into deep corners and drawers. Yes, yes we did. It’s sad, really!
Now, what else can I get rid of??
